The Planet of the Apes Trilogy [Blu-ray]

Three sci-fi action dramas based on the 1970s 'Planet of the Apes' film series make up this triple bill. The first, 'Rise of the Planet of the Apes' (2011), follows Will Rodman (James Franco), a genetic engineer in present-day San Francisco who conducts scientific tests on apes in his quest to find a cure for Alzheimer's disease. His initial subject is Caesar (Andy Serkis), a prototype of a new breed of ape with human-like intelligence. When Caesar breaks free, a revolution ensues, leading to an epic war for dominance between humankind and the world's primates.

In 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' (2014), Caesar, now the leader of a growing group of intelligent apes, seeks to establish a truce between his kind and the humans. Many believe, however, that war is imminent due to the drastic reduction of the human population from a devastating virus, leaving their status as Earth's dominant species in question. As tension escalates, it may only take a single spark to ignite a full-scale battle for survival between humans and apes.

Finally, in 'War for the Planet of the Apes' (2017), Caesar and his fellow apes find themselves embroiled in a conflict with the humans, led by Colonel McCullogh (Woody Harrelson). Despite Caesar's belief in the apes' inherent non-savagery, he is driven to seek vengeance for the lives lost at the hands of humans, tapping into his dark side.
